Interesting point about protected Seals and Sealions consuming huge quantities of fish.

We were diving in Garapata park just 10 miles south of Monterey/Carmel. It was a nice, protected cove with a big kelp canopy and we saw 3 otters on the surface kelp. The bottom was amazingly barren except for large quantities of empty crab shells, empty clam/bivale shells, empty urchin shells, etc. It appeared those otters hage turned the complete bottom of that cove into a barren wasteland.
I was stunned.

I know these animals are viewed as cute and cuddly, but they gotta eat and they are very efficient eaters.
