I had a 12.5' Achilles with a 25HP Suzuki that I took to Catalina more than two dozen times. I would leave early before the wind came up and make two dives, have lunch and be back in Los Angeles Harbor before 1:00. With two divers, four tanks + gear and a cooler I was able to make it to Ship Rock in 70 minutes. I had a ten gallon gas tank onboard, although I only used about five gallons for each trip. I carried a handheld VHF and GPS in a Pelican case.
