Yes there have been many years that I have not fished at all. This year I have not been fishing yet. I consider the price of a fishing license more of a contribution to a worthy cause. That way I do not feel so bad about the high price compared to other states.

I do not know the maximum fine for fishing without a license. The very minimum is $100. Of course the fine can go much higher. Then they can confiscate you fishing gear, boat and I imagine dive gear. If they really wanted.

A quality fly rod will run $200 to $500. A quality fly reel is to expensive to post. A good live bait salt water rod about $150 to $300. A set of scuba gear perhaps a few thousand dollars. Price of a boat;-) I just can't bare the thought of just giving my toys to a game warden.

You can get one day fishing license ;-) If you don't feel lucky.
