What you are seeing is the sperm patch placed on the female lobster's underside by the males. All of the lobsters that have those sperm patches better be females. If not, sexual pervasion has joined the ranks of our favorite curtsaceon or there are a whole lot of near sighted male lobsters out there. The sperm patches do not affect the eatability of the famales.
