While I'll admit that this practice (if indeed it was true) is shocking, why is it less shocking that we place hooks in anchovies, sardines, worms and other bait? Life is life! Why is a dog more a living thing than the other bait we use.

In fact, using dogs and cats as bait helps return some of the marine resources those critters extract from the environment back where they belong. Think of how many cans of tuna and other fish pet cats eat every day. Think of what this removes from the marine ecosystems?

Oh, and in case you missed it, this is not entirely serious... but something to think about!
