I am so tired of the French bashing that goes on in this country (and I'm German). Were it not for the French, we might not have won the Battle of Yorktown and the Revolutionary War. Did not the French give us the Statue of Liberty?

You could view our involvement in WWI and WWII as payback for their help much earlier. You could also view some of it as self-serving economics (although there were real villains in that fight, both in my grandparents' home country and in Japan).
