As for the great white, we do see them in Avalon Bay on occasion during the winter when there are fewer boats on the moorings. Usually they are the smaller ones (10' or so). Although I didn't experience it personally, there is the story of the OW class in the Casino Dive Park years ago. The divers were underwater in a line doing skills when a great white swam past them. My feeling is that it was either the best... or the last... dive of their lives!
