Well, I don't eat cockroaches......althoguh I am sure if they could get away with it DFG would try to extract a tax for taking them....but, I keep a clean enough ennvironment that I don't have to deal with them.....but for the record, if I catch black widows or any other type of spider, I catch them in a cup and take them far outside and let them go.....as to ants, I tend to not have those either, but if I leave the stray candy bar out, I don't spray insecticide, I just remove the candy bar, and they go away..
