Most shops (SportChalet, Dive 'n Surf, ReefSeekers) will rent this equipment (except maybe the hood, booties and fins). Good way to get started until you figure out what you like. Also, some shops have a swap meet (SportChalet used to have one in the Spring) - people bring in used gear on consignment - that's how I picked up some extra fins.
