I think Carl Safina talks about the *bluefin tuna's* ability to dive into deeper colder water. It's a fascinating description of the physiology of a great predator. If you haven't read that book yet, I recommend it!

Right now I'm in the middle of his book, reading about the tragedy of salmon in the Pacific Northwest. Again, a great read that is factually based and poetic.
