I went to Hawaii once for New Years. The water temps were in the low 70s. I wore a shorty suit on the first dive and shivered. I was so happy I brought my Harvey's 6mm suit. Full Long Johns, hooded vest and step-through jacket plus thick gloves. I enjoyed the rest of the week's diving despite all the looks from the warm water types there. :) It was probably a good thing I didn't dive dry back then or I would have taken a drysuit with me. It's better to feel good than to look good.
