Different mackerel - the Atlantic are better for eating; the Pacific has a strong fishy taste and more oil (I can't eat them as the strong fish smell gets to me). "Worms happen". California Halibut are also notorious for wormy flesh - clean it like a surgeon. Check before eating...and watch out for do-it-yourself sushi.
