The sandy beaches of Sonoma are (in order from south to north along the PCH coast road):

Russian Gulch (Sonoma)

Fort Ross

Timber Cove

Stillwater Cove

Ocean Cove

As I said before, you can stay at Timber Cove Inn and be within easy striking distance of each one of them.
