First of all, thank you Elaine for showing us all how incredibly beautiful local diving can be. You have a tremendous gift for capturing the very best of the marine domain!

In response to your question about the snail with the turbin-like shell, I believe they are commonly referred to as "purple olives." As a young camper at Catalina in the 70's, we used to collect the shells, grind off the pointy ends and make purple olive necklaces!!
