For another perspective, I have a 28 foot Silverton, twin 318 gas engines slipped in San Pedro. $300.00 a month, for me to run to Catalina with 3 divers and tanks for 3 dives {weight relative} I will burn between 50 and 75 gallons of gas {depending how far up and down the island we travel} somewhere between $150 and $300 in fuel depending on how much they gank me at the fuel dock. The food is as good as we can whip up ourselves. My daughter and I went to Anacapa on the Peace the day after thanksgiving, 3 dives air and food included $85 per = $170 + $40 tip. We covered the south side of the island. The food and crew as always were exceptional. Definetly a bargin, so much so that I have considered selling the boat and just diving charters. But I do like the freedom of movement with my own ride. But by next summer gas will probably be at $4 and then I might have to rethink the freedom to cost ratio.
