The depth of field is very, very narrow when using the stacked macros, so getting a subject in focus is difficult. I find that if I move the camera in towards the subject until the image starts to clear in the LCD before half-pressing for autofocus, about half of the shots are in focus. Of course, with the surge the percentage of keepers goes way down! If it's in focus, it's often not in the frame!
