If you like trip reports and underwater photos of what things you might expect to see at different locations go to Elaine's trip reports.

Also do check out the california dive boats section of this website - it is probably the most comprehensive list of links/features of the boats available on line. With the exception of the boats based on Catalina, most out of LA run primarily on weekends.

I'm not aware of any boats to avoid at all costs. Local regulars tend to like the Great Escape, the Pacific Star, the Sundiver, the Peace. The Psalty V and the Second Stage are good six packs but are a little more pricey. The Sea Bass - a mostly open air boat which is great fun in the summer - tends to have the best priced trips to the Oil Rigs. Don't expect any more than two bathrooms on almost any boat that you choose.
