Saw him interviewed on the Today Show this morning. He seemed very aware of the possible danger, but had been doing shark dives for about 10 years. He felt the behavior exhibited by the shark was non-threatening.

Jean-Michel Cousteau rode a great white in Africa about 5 years ago while free diving with them.
