i vaguely remember that story. i don't remember if the shark was positively identified or not. If i recall, when the woman was attacked she was swimming on the surface and had no idea the shark was there..

in this case the diver was under the water, engaging the shark, keeping eye contact. i don't think the two situations are comparable except in the most general terms. i'm just saying if you are ever going to swim with one, that would be the ideal situation to do it in.
