The skies are mostly overcast during the summer in SoCal, leading to the phrase, "June gloom." Surface conditions are usually flat, visibility isn't the best it can be but isn't the worst either. Depending on where you are, expect 15-25 foot vis. Water temps are cooler, again depending on where you are, expect temps in the low sixties below the thermocline.

August is sunnier, you will find better visibility and warmer water. The best months for diving in SoCal, IMHO, are October/November.
