You don't need ankle weights if you keep yourself fairly well
shrinkwrapped. If there's no excess air it can't go to your feet.
I've got over 500 drysuit dives without ankle weights, never got
hung upside down, and I spend a lot of time head down taking
pictures.

I've got a friend who calls them "training wheels".

HOWEVER, I'm really concerned that your first dive in your new
suit was going to be in the ocean. Much better to do it an pool
with an experienced drysuit diver to show you the ropes.
