I'm thinking of stepping up my camera game from a Canon SD500 to something in the $1K-$2K range, including housing and strobe. It seems like the Sea&Sea DX8000 looks like a good option. 8 megapixels, strobe, and wide angle lense for around $2K. I assume that would last me several years before the camera became the limiting factor to getting good shots vs. my skills. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for this setup or an alternative in that price range.

On a side note, I plan to get a Digital Rebel as a topside camera within the next year. Should I just wait for that and get a housing for it? Seems like $2K would buy at least the housing and lighting for that.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Tom
