My freediver mentor follows all such tales, and we go through accident review and figure out how it could have been avoided.

This one's easy, we've been through this before. When you're solo on the boat, you wear a safety line. No exceptions.

I'm ok out on the ocean with him, but I'm very picky who else's boats I dive off of.
