What type of eel is this.

I took these pictures of this eel at Cocos Island, Costa Rica on December 30, 2005. I am not sure what variety it is since I can not find a match in any of my ID books or on the net.
At first I thought it might be a dark variation of Echidna nebulosa 1 2 since if the white was replaced with dark it would be almost an exact match, including the yellow eyes. However I can not find any such example, including the additional fish base pictures. It might also be a Echidna nocturna 1 2 but does not look much like like any of the limited photos I can find.
It does not really match anything I can find on the Fish base Eel ID page. Any input you might have on what this is would be appreciated.
