If the diver in question was actually GUE trained as you say and making a deco dive, he/she would have a buddy next to them as a backup timer. Carrying an entire dive shop inventory with you on a dive may make you look macho, but if any piece of gear is not used during a dive, it is not to be taken. The primary reason for the Hogarthian/DIR gear configuration is streamlining. Having two of everything and most of it dangling from various D-rings is not streamlining.
