Had an E ticket ride to and from Anacapa on the Spectre. Some of you remember what an E-ticket ride was. For those of you too young to remember, Disneyland used to sell ticket books and the E ticket was the most expensive, scariest rides and fewest of number in the book and so very valued.
First dive was Channels with a fair current and 20-25 ft vis which made for a short dive for students. Spent quite some time cruising up and down looking for suitable next site as wind was picking up and beginning to gust.
Next site: underwater island. Wind now basically constant. Jumped in and students now kicking hard just to get to back of boat. One lost belt so aborted dive. Searched for belt, which was found by others and brought up.
By now 'gale force' gusts. We had lunch and Captain Ted made the wise decision to call the rest of the day. The trip back took almost 2 1/2 times the normal with most of the divers staying in the cabin and on the sundeck. Only a few of the hardy could bear sleeeping in the bunks below.
Word of the day: SMAK ask MACIEK
