BTW, being able to take your belt off on the surface and pass it
into the boat is a useful skill, esp. on inflatables where you
have to haul your butt over the side into the boat.

BTW2: there's more than one way to skin that cat (like most cats).
Back before I had the whaler, when I used to dive off buddy's
inflatables, I put a loop of 1/2" webbing in the middle of the back
of my weight belt. I'd clip that off to a tag line, take off my
belt, haul myself into the boat, and then haul the belt into the
boat. It prevented dropping the belt (seen it happen) and dropping
the belt on someone's camera.

But I don't think it should be a testable skill for OW1 divers.
