Fortunately, or not this has escalated. And yes this is to a very specific shop. They only teach with Padi instructors. You can check out my calendar page to see who it is. The last instructor could not, or would not listen to reason. Her only response to all my questions were, “This is a Padi Standard”. I told her she could not do this on my boat, and suggested if this was beyond her standards, to please go to some other boat. I have been told that she has requested not to use my boat again. I think that is a great idea.
My first, and foremost, obligation is to the safety of the diver, my crew, and my boat, in that order. I have been chastised before for my beliefs, and will be again, but as my partner Roy used to say “As long as you can sleep at night you are doing something right”.
I agreed with Roy then, and I agree with him now.
I am going to call Padi tomorrow and ask them about this. I will relay their position on this matter.
