Surfaced from a recent dive with unmeasured bugs in my catch bag. While waiting for my comrade to get back DFG pulled along side. Long story short, apparently I was in violation. Bugs were still attached to bc in water hanging from side of boat. I never brought them aboard but some were short and I was over my limit. I pleaded that the bugs had never come aboard and that I intended to release any short or over limit bugs. He was not giving an inch and issued me a citation for both counts. Now I'm wondering if anybody can tell me how much the fine might be on these counts or if a judge will give me a break since the bugs were not on board and were still attached to my bc in the water.
