Read the article in the link. I learned a lot from that, plus legopacific.com, which has been down for a couple months. :(
I use manual settings and manual white balance down to about 40-50 feet, depending on vis. After that I have to use the flash. If I'm just taking closeups, like nudibranchs, I'll use a divelight instead of the flash.
