My worst nightmare is current at night with a Divemaster looking the wrong way, or not looking at all...been there and had to swim like mad to the tip of San clemente just barely making it before I would have been blown out to wherever! A whistle works, as does an inflatable tube, but the best device has to be the good judgement not to even make the dive!
