If you have photos from your ADP or UICC, would you please share them with us? The LA County UIA (Underwater Instructors Association) is continuing our ongoing effort to preserve the history of recreational scuba diving, from the time when the LA Co offered the first recreational scuba course in the nation, to our scuba and skin diving courses in the present. If you were in one of the LA Co. scuba programs, you are part of history!
We will have an exhibit table at the upcoming Diver Days (2/11 -
2/12) at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, to ublicize our ADP, UICC, "3 Rs" and SAS programs. We'll also have a scanner to quickly scan in any photos you want to bring, take down the names of the people in the photos, and then we'll give you your photos right back.
Bring your c-card and you'll get in to the Aquarium free that
weekend! Bring your LA County c-card and you can enter our raffle for some fun prizes, just come on by our table and show us your card. The diver with the oldest c-card each day will get a special prize!
We are also always looking for old educational materials and programs from the ADP and UICC graduation banquets, and you can bring those by also. How about your old log book? Hey, how about ADP t-shirts? We'll have a digital camera as well if you want to bring yours by the table. Or better yet, wear it!
For more information, to send your photos to us digitally, or if you want to help us with the LA Co. scuba history project, email Carol Yin at history@lascuba.com.
