I was diving at Casino Point not too long ago. One of the most incredible things I noticed was that some of these experienced divers simply did not complete a pre-dive buddy check. I saw many divers walk down the stairs and attempt to inflate thier BCD without thier tank being turned on, or they would jump on in without the BCD hose attached, or thier BCD was not buckled on! Not to sound too hard, but, I'm glad in thier Darwin tempting moments its usually only themselves who they place at risk. Like pilots we divers tend to relax with experience on certain standards which are inviolate. Most pilots who crash do so between 300-500 hours. I wonder what the average numbers of dives are for divers who die while diving (non-medical)?
