Sean and I had a great dive at Point Dume Pinnacles yest afternoon (2/7).

Vis was very good, up to 30ft in some parts. temp was 57, max depth 62ft, dive time almost an hour. waves were a little large but lulls were 10min, making for easy entry/exit.

A strong current quickly brought us to the outer pinnacle. We promptly dropped down into an aquarium , with fish surrounding us in all directions, in all levels of the water column, due to the current. A sea lion dove near us twice. We saw large schools of olive rockfish, blacksmith, black croaker, perch, & opaleye. We also saw a couple lingcod, couple large horn sharks, a few lobster and a cabezon. We often felt strong currents during the dive.

We barely made it back against the strong current, at one point we were making no progress on the surface. It was a little easier when we got very close to shore, but it still took a tremendous amount of effort to make it back to shore. What a workout! Dolphins swam near us on the way in, and as we drove away the sun setting looked beautiful. What a great place to dive!
