There are weight pockets you can buy which allows you to go "integrated" with a BP/W setup. I don't use them, but they exist.

I found that going to a backplate removed enough weight from my belt so only 8 pounds remains. I went from a weight belt hater to 'oh, this isn't so bad' with the lighter belt.
