Refer to this link for my review of a Polar. Great suit; I'm very happy with it. This semi-dry is actually a wetsuit with very limited water movement - the water trapped in the wool liner is warmed by your body, providing a comfortable dive.

I recently saw an Extreme at Reefseekers - it has many of the good features of the Polar but doesn't have the integrated hood or front chest entry sealing system which I feel gives the Polar an advantage in restricting water flow. It does have one of the thickest zipper flaps on the back I've seen in a while - around 1/4 inch.

I've talked with some who own the Mares Iso-therms and they like that suit as well. I felt it was a little baggy as compared to the Polar, so would likely need more lead.

I'd confess that semi-dry suits will not be as warm as dry suits, though I am tempted to wear my Polar for an ice dive to see how it fares. But you don't need to replace seals or worry about punctures with a semi-dry and its 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of a dry suit and requires a lot less lead (something I really like about it).
