I think Bear Tales should be required reading for anyone before they enter Alaska. :-)
I backpacked across the Kenai Peninsula once and saw a couple bears, but it was the ones I didn't see that scared me. A couple on the trail asked if I saw the Mother and two cubs walking on the trail. I was in tall reeds and missed them by less than a minute. One minute sooner and I wouldn't be here to write this.
