Divermasters on boats in Cal are not guides like in Coz. Cal Boat Diving can arrange for a guide (for a fee with advance notice).

We had a diver who was cetified in Coz on a trip here - as soon as she hit the cold water and kelp she gave up. Felt bad for her as we have really great diving. You might also want to find an instructor who can prepare you for Cal diving.
