I went through Dive Kauai a couple years back. Really liked the dive guides we had -- particularly Hugo and Teresa, who are both still there according to their website. We had an issue with the owner regarding scheduling that was not resolved particularly well. Also, a southern swell came in while we were there, so no boats went out from Poipu the entire week. So I can't comment on boat diving. We ended up doing shore diving from Tunnels Beach on the northern part of the island, which was still pretty nice -- lots of lava tubes and swim throughs. If you're an advanced diver, which sadly I was not when I was in Kauai, Nihau is supposed to be pretty impressive. Those are typically three-tank trips and are all-day affairs since it takes some time to get to Nihau (and supposedly the trip can be a little rocky). Have a great time!
