I didn't say there weren't better ways, I'm saying some people don't neccessarily know how to make a living any other way. If you haven't got an education then clubbing baby seals, or cutting down all the trees and deforesting your island (Haiti) may seem like the only solution to your immediate needs available. That is why they do the crazy things they do. Like the border in the middle of August to look for a low paying job at McDonalds.

If your children were hungry and hunting the King's deer was the only immediate way to get them food, I'd wager that you would be out there poaching the King's deer, Robin Hood.
