These very same people who claim it's cruel or what have you are a bunch of hypocrites. You see they buy they fish in the supermarket. They have no idea where there fish are coming from (Country). Most fish sold in the supermarket come from overseas.
These very same people are facilitating the depletion of species in foreign countries.

We as responsible spear fisherman/fisherwomen take only what we need.

I too have been harassed. It happened in San Diego, (Ancient Sea Cliffs). I was spear fishing and a few other divers were using underwater scooters, needless to say, they used them to scare off the fish, intentionally.
