Even if you get a good (=expensive) scanner you can easily spend 15 minutes/slide. I recommend getting your slides scanned professionally. If you do over 100 slides at a time the price is very reasonable at Main Photo. I had Paulette Johnson's, Kathy Kalohi's, or Mike Brennans's California or Indonesia slides scanned there to create the galleries. I had them scanned to thiner High Resolution CD and then resampled the pictures down to the size that appears on the web.
When you consider both the price of a scanner and the time it takes to do it yourself, having it done professionally makes great sense.
