As a diver and a hard core mountain biker, the article didn't bother me in the slightest, because it is totally fake.

You could swim faster underwater in full dive gear faster than you could ride a bike. NOBODY who has actually ever ridden a mountain bike and dives would do this for any other reason then to interject something headline grabbing for a dive magazine in need of something controversial to get a few readers all up in arms to generate publicity.
