I know this doesn't have anything to do with diving, but if you're reading this, chances are this issue will effect you. Personally.

Congress is now pushing a law that would end the free and open Internet as we know it. Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are lobbying Congress hard to gut Network Neutrality, the Internet's First Amendment. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. So Amazon doesn't have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer.

If you use the Internet every day, you know that it has become an environmental element almost as important to human health, freedom and progress as clean air and water.

If you want to stop congress from giving it away to private telcos who will surely find ways to:
- limit
- channel
- adjust
- censor
- restrict
- control
- and grab power away from you that the Internet represents,

... then you are going to have to step up and speak for yourself.

I'm not doing it for you. AT&T won't do it for you. U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman hasn't committed yet to doing it for you.

You have to do it:

Get smart:

Email Congress:
Write your senator or representative - http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Call the uncommitted members of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunication from California:

- Rep. Lois Capps (D) 202-225-3601
- Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D) 202-225-3976
- Rep. Mary Whitaker Bono (R) 202-225-5330
- and elsewhere - http://www.savetheinternet.com/=map
