They also live on Santa Catalina, although last I checked it was uncertain as to whether the two populations were genetically "the same." Of course we aren't shelling their habitat here!

In their defense, the Navy has developed programs to try to ensure the shrike population's survival. You might be surprised at the efforts the military has shown, at least prior to the current political situation. Of course they have the money thanks to us tax payers!
