Along with this you need about 3X-4X the gear of a typical rec diver and some training. Helium is a really neat gas, but it also has its dangers. As as wise ex-DIR instructor once told me, "You don't want to F-up and do an ESA on trimix". Bad profiles like the US Navy tables on air have historically worked out pretty good. I don't have any data to back my suspicion, but I'm betting that ugly deco profiles on He would cause a lot more trouble due the rapid off gassing. You can sort of half-way do it right on air in doubles with a bottle of 50% on your side. This will get you out of deco about 2X as fast and get rid of some of the problems associated with single tanks down deep. This is a fun position to take on the web because it annoys both serious tech divers and rec divers :-) Ross-O
