Don't believe the dive shop lines. Most of them don't get updated
very often, and tend to be a bit optimistic. And vis can be
highly variable. A week and a half ago (April 22-23), it sucked.
This weekend (April 29-30), it was the best we've seen in a long
time (up to 70')

There's not much that can be done to predict visibility more than
a day or two in advance (and then only guess that it will be like
today). Best bet is to subscribe to ba_diving at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ba_diving/

But when was that 5'? I can't remember ANY vis that bad this winter?
It may have been that you were in the wrong place.
