I think that you are on to something though. Why should everyone that doesn't have to carry around godzilla need to dress like they could? It makes no sense. I overinflated my BC today and put extra air in the drysuit on the surface just to see what would happen. it was next to impossible to swim against a current - I felt like an out of control drifting cork - until I let some air out and went back to "experiencing the extra drag". Probably too much "safety" margin to be safe in the "gotta have a ton of lift" BC.
