Dive rite transpac harness sysytem-is it good?

I have decided to switch from my old jacket style BC (seaquest) to something different. I am looking at the dive rite transpac harness system. Is this a good choice? I do most of my diving at Monterey and the North Coast, with two trips per year to warm water. I have heard with this system it requires less weight...is there any place that you can do in water testing??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
