The boats do fill up here during the summer months. I've had to stay home sometimes because I didn't make a reservation soon enough. It is one of the reasons that I started doing the Thursday "open spaces on dive trips this weekend" posts.

Look at the boat schedules and see if there is a trip that you really want to do. If you see one, my advice would be not to leave it to chance and reserve early. By booking now, you have the power to choose. If you wait until the last minute - you get whatever is still available at the last minute and it may not be the trip or the boat that you had in mind. For one day Catalina trips I have usually found that booking three weeks in advance will work.
